WEEK 7 (20/03/2023 - 24/03/2023)

 MONDAY, 20TH MARCH 2023

I returned to school after a long break and it's now week 7. Today is the first day of the 2023/2024 session. As always, I was at school at 6:30 in the morning. We started the morning with a school assembly. I followed Ustaz Taufik and gave bookmarks to all students at the school gates. The assembly started at 7:30 and we sang "Lagu Negaraku", "Lagu Pulau Pinang" and the school song. Following this, Puan Fatimah Salini Binti Jafar, the school's principal, gave a speech. In her speech, she hopes that SMK Bayan Lepas students will be more effective in attendance and academic progress in the 2023/2024 school year. For your information, the Education Minister, Puan Fadlina Sidek has announced that all schools in Malaysia will not hold study and learning sessions during the first week of school. So our school decided to kick start the morning with a Brain Gym session. Teachers and students exercised for 30 minutes. After the session, the teachers entered the classroom with the students and decorated the classroom. That's it for day one!

TUESDAY, 21TH MARCH 2023

Today is the second day of the 2023–2024 academic session. This morning, teacher Hafiz led us to another session of brain gym training. Following the brain gym, the school counselors invited Inspector Afiq, the chief of the Barat Daya police department, to speak to all of the students about the significance of having a motorcycle license while operating a vehicle on public roads. It has been observed that many Form 4 and Form 5 students use motorcycles as a mode of transportation to get to school. Nevertheless, during roadblocks after school hours, some students were discovered to be riding without a license. I went to Bilik Seminar for an event called "Pembugaran Murid Tingkatan 4 sesi 2023/2024" after the speech. The reason for this event is that the students were asked to choose between subjects from the science stream and those from the arts stream for the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia academic session. It was a very well-organized event where teachers for each head of the department carefully described what students would experience if they chose both science and arts-related courses.

WEDNESDAY, 22TH MARCH 2023

Today officially marks the start of Ramadan. There won't be any brain gym sessions during Ramadan. For today's brainstorming sessions with their subject teachers, students entered the classroom as usual. Madam Michelle finally gave me my class schedule. For the subject of English, Madam Michelle gave me two of her classes: Form 1 Cemerlang and Form 1 Elit. Due to the fact that it was an orientation day for Form 1 students, I have yet to meet any of the students. The discipline teacher and the headmistress briefed the Form 1 student on the rules and regulations of the school in Bilik Seminar. Immediately following the orientation, I went with Madam Michelle to decorate class 1 Bitara. Just for your information, during the month of Ramadan, all teachers are allowed to leave school at 2 p.m.

THURSDAY, 23TH MARCH 2023

Puan Zakiah Binti Zain, the school's senior assistant for curriculum, decided to hold today's registration for the students because everyone was extremely busy with yesterday's events. It was necessary for students to register for their uniformed units, clubs, and sports teams. Alongside Puan Zakiah, I assisted the students in Dewan Al-Razi with the curriculum registration. Students only need to click the links provided using the school's laptops to complete their online registration. Students who followed the directions on their registration links were successfully registered in around 30 minutes. After that, a small farewell celebration was held for Puan Farizah, the head of Design and Technology who has been transferred to SMK Batu Maung. We also commemorated the birthdays of teachers who were born in March. In the staff room, I savored some delectable foods and drinks that the teachers had all brought. Today was a lot of fun socializing with the teachers.

FRIDAY, 24TH MARCH 2023

The week's final day is today. Since I had no activities planned for the day, I met with Madam Michelle to talk about her classroom do's and don'ts. The most recent Form 1 English syllabus scheme of work was also provided by Madam Michelle for me to use as a guide while creating my lesson plan. Madam Michelle informed me that for the English class, she only wanted me to use the two exercise books E1 and E2. Madam Michelle also told me that the school will only use Pulse 2 English textbook for the Form 1 syllabus.
