To the world I might be just a practicum teacher, but to my students I am a hero!

  MONDAY, 1ST MAY 2023 Namaste everyone! This is week 13's blog from teacher Bal! So, on May 1, 2023, a Monday, I did not go to school due to the labour day public holiday. Labour Day is a holiday that honors the efforts of labour.  Happy Labor Day everyone! TUESDAY, 2ND MAY 2023 The second day of week 13 is here. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend school today as I was feeling under the weather. As a result, I had no activities today; it was simply a rest day for me. I'm looking forward to returning to school tomorrow! WEDNESDAY, 3RD MAY 2023 I'm finally back in school. This morning, I arrived at school early. I gave Puan Hasnah my MC for verification. I just had one lesson today, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., with my 1 Elit students. It was a listening session. Students were able to fill in the spaces with sentences from the audio and they circle the correct responses to the questions after listening to the audio.   MONDAY, 17TH APRIL 2023 Welcome back to Teacher Bal's blog! Well, today is week 11! I started this morning with the student leader's award during assembly. About eighty students received letters of appointment to leaders. Puan Fatimah praised and congratulated all these students on their election as school leaders. She hopes these students shine like a diamond. After the awards ceremony, teachers and students had an Eid Day photography session led by Ustaz Tuafik. The teachers wore their Eid costumes for the photography session today. We had fun taking lots of photos as well as videos. It was a memorable day! After the photo shoot, I only managed to get into class of 1 Elit for my English class. Since today's lesson is about listening skills, my students were able to name musical instruments after listening to their pitch and they completed sentences in a game called "Hotseat". When I use the method of games like “Hotseat”, students tend to enjoy my lesson more.

  MONDAY, 10TH APRIL 2023 Time flies when you are having fun, so here we are in week 10. As for today, my school only had a mentor-mentee session. A mentor is essentially the teacher of the class, and mentees are the students present in the classroom. Mentees look up to mentors as role models and are motivated by them. Since I am not a class teacher, I went to the staff room to get ready for my English lessons today. Both of my classes were focused on speaking skills. Students from 1 Cemerlang and 1 Elit were able to give examples of their free time activities and list the benefits of engaging in a hobby. Today's classes were enjoyable for me because, based on what I've seen, students from both 1 Elit and 1 Cemerlang are not afraid to present in front of the class.  Mentor mentee session.   MONDAY, 3RD APRIL 2023 Bonjour! Welcome back, everyone! Well, today marks my first day of week 9. The SMK Bayan Lepas English panel made the decision to host a camp today. Form 4 English Camp is the name of it. I participated in this program along with all the other English teachers. My classes with my students in 1 Cemerlang and 1 Elit were therefore canceled. As the head of the English department at this school, Madam Michelle assigned tasks to each teacher to ensure the success of today's camp. I was in charge of the photography session and icebreaker. Eighty Form 4 students made up the entire student body. I made the decision to divide them into six groups, with no more than thirteen students in each group, for the ice-breaking activity. I separated the groups based on adjectives beginning with the letters A through F.      Since the program's start time is 8 a.m. at Dewan Al-Razi, I gathered all of the Form 4 students for the ice-breaking activity.   MONDAY, 27TH MARCH 2023 Welcome back to my blog. It is week 8 today, and I started off my Monday with some gloomy news. Ustaz Husni, the senior affairs assistant at the school, is retiring today, and Puan Fatimah informed all the teachers via a Telegram message. The first teacher I was greeted by on the first day of my practicum was Ustaz Husni, therefore it was quite sad to hear about his retirement. We began the day by honoring Ustaz Husni's retirement. At SMK Bayan Lepas, Ustaz Husni, a teacher and senior affairs assistant, shared his perspective on what it's like to be in that position. During the ceremony, the teachers and students gave gifts to Ustaz Husni. Following the ceremony, I met with Form 1 Cemerlang students from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. to begin the first week of Personal Development Planning (PDP), then from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., I taught my Form 1 Elit students.
